Is It Too Flashy?

Nice looking ride, get it. Ashame people would automatically assume the worst. My only point is that if your out bidding, the vehicle might need to be somewhat in line with your field of buisness. Nothing wrong with something nice or that appeals to you. Good Luck

my boss does his estimates in his 72 vet sometimes when we need his truck, he usually drives around in a chevy 2500, nothing flashy but definatly a nice truck, we noticed that when he does his estimates with the vet they always say something as far as payin for it and what nots, but with the truck they dont bother him, he has alloy wheels and nothing fansy about the truck, the funny thing is, he payed more for the truck then he did for the vet. i mean, most of the time you could spend upwards of 50 grand on a disel truck but homeoweners dont care because in there minds its a truck, they dont own one, the people who work for them do, so its okay, your truck is nice lookin, id go for it, but i would keep some money layin around for those steelies just in case, good luck

when you see a truck you know that it is capable of paying for itself regardless of how nice it is. A 50,000 dollar truck can easily work itself off where as a 5000 dollar vette is a money pit no matter which way you spin it. When you see a useless vehicle like a vette, you see someone who likes to play. There is a little frivolousness about it.
I think there is something to say for having sharp tools, thats different than waving your money around.
I have been re-looking at the avalanches, I think it could be a very nice crew truck or family hybrid truck. The honda ridgeline too. They would be great for a family and dual work truck. I dont have a family so I wasnt really thinking along those lines. It is an innovative design though.
They really dont make any good real solid cars though anymore. Too many breakable dohickies. To much lining. The engines are all impossible too. Car companies have complicated things way too much. You could easily get away with the avalanch being 25% smaller, just trim off some fat. Even the cars in america are obese.

Thanks Jonseredbred. That pic is from a job we did for a land clearing company. They put about 10 yards of chips in the trailer before we peiced out the trunk into the trailer. You could barely hear the peices when they landed in the trailer. Note there's no traffic just in case I missed!!

One thing I forgot to mention - God forbid if the lowly treeman should ever make enough money to own something nice.

There is a lot of that around here. Kinda funny really, I mean for as much information as we know, or are expected to know, how little respect we actually get.

i really dont give a good goddamn what people think about what i drive. If they are that hung up on what others are driving, they got problems......most likely in paying the bill.

I think what you roll up in means a lot (subcontiously) to the client or potential client. When I first started my biz I had ZERO dollars. I bought a $900 truck. It was a ragged banger. People would question my ability. A year and a half went by and I bought a fairly nice 3/4 ton truck. People took me more serious. Like I showed up with the proper credentials. Now I drive a little nicer truck and soon will buy a new even nicer loaded up truck. I don't think it matters a whole lot what you drive as long as it is clean and well presented. If they don't use you because your truck is too nice then they are wacked. My clients often comment on our "nice trucks." They don't want a ragged looking outfit on their property.

It doesn't have to be new, but if it looks like crap, paint it and wash it, they'll respect you/your biz more.

Buy the Avalanche, it looks nice!

There is a big roofing company in town (liberal-land Madison) that has all their salesmen drive around in jacked-up F-350's with big exhaust, shiney rims, dressed up to the nines.... I would count it as a strike against them. These guys don't do any of the work, all they do is sell jobs.

your avalanch looks just fine, although I personally don't care for them...

Go for it!

This is a discussion had by every professional that operates a vehicle in the presence of their prospective clients. Real Estate agents face this problem in particular. Ask some fundamental questions. Who are your clients and what market are you targetting? Trying to go after more high end properties? What are their expectations? Are you successful? Display professionalism not just bling? Does the truck reflect you and how your crew will appear? Many of our clients own their own business or manage them. How do those companies look? If you show up in something that looks better than your work vehicles and crew it would suggest you invest more of the profits in your toys then your business.

I don't see the rims as a problem as much as I can't see the vehicle in context of your company.

Here's a company that does a great job of great presentation to clients and look at the revenues!

Yes, some clients may disparage you and your company for spending money on your corporate look but others will see it as professional and a company concerned about how they are perceived. This would translate into the work you do and the way the job site is left.
