I lost all my calendar appointments yesterday and cant get them back. I thought everything was backed up to icloud. When i go to apple customer support it asks me how much i think the question im asking is worth before giving me an answer. I know i am a techidiot but i spent 3 hours trying to figure out my apple stuff. Im thinking its not much diff than a regular pc

That's a really smart a$$ answer! Not what I'd expect from Apple.

I have an external harddrive with ???terrabyte capacity.

I have Time Machine setup to do auto backups every hour. It only saves the changes not a duplicate of the what's on my laptop.

iCloud is a nice third backup. When I get settled I'm going to look into it or some other cloud service as well as using my external right here.

I'll bet that it would have taken longer than 3 hours and much more gut wrenching if you'd been on PC still. Mac ain't perfect but I find it pretty close!

And...no, I don't have Apple stock, I should though ;)

Today I figured out the why on the backups.
My Icloud ran out of space in june so it wasnt backing up. I went to the store I bought it at and my 1 year tech support was in store support. Somehow when I bought more storage yesterday the calander was deleted. Probably something else I did. I found out the time machine is not for the ipad. I need to learn more about the functions of apple systems I guess. I do think it is still well worth it. I am going to try and find someone who can set up my systems for me so i can just enter stuff and use it.

i pay like $15 or 20/yr for the extra icloud storage space. I have EVERYTHING on icloud- contacts, calendar and estimates and all the info is accessible via my phone, ipad, computer, OR off site at any computer. This keeps the communication between me and my staff running smoothly.

The whole iWorld works VERY well once you figure it all out. it doesn't make sense at first, then I wonder "why was I having such a hard time figuring this out."

Apple, take my money and please keep doing what you're doing.

Gmail is the far better option. i use it for contacts, calendar and email and it syncs with any device i want it to. For Free! Never had a problem, and i can easily look up emails from several years ago from any computer or device.

i loves me my apple products but google is ahead on web based email etc.

My gmail calander would not sync with the ipad. That is what I used on my blackberry. I will be seeking out a tech guru to help me set it up.
