Installing SB in palm trees

I've been meaning to post this on TB.

This the way I installed my snakebite rope on these nasty palms trees out here in SO-CAL..

Like I said earlier on another thread , I take a hot nail and make a hole on the end of the rope going up and then installed smaller piece of rope and make a loop, tie off w/ the throw line and black take to get a good taper and off you you go!

The thing that I like about the SB is that it is smooth going thru the head of the palm ..

Some time you'll get some broken thorn tips on the rope ,it's no big deal just remove them ..

Now this last pic is the important one , got to make sure the line is pull down tight in the middle , from here you can go SRT -- RAD or install a pulley on the SB w/climbing line for a rope /walk system ..

Yep. They did an awesome job mimicing snake skin.

And Javi, it looks like you're having fun. Have any of those broken thorns ever snagged your hand while embeded in the rope?

Jamin , Actually, when I'm going up on a SRT system my hand ascender usually knocks them off for me..

In washingtonia robustas blak widow has worked very well. Every other palm can be ascended with normal climb line. I prefer Static line, just blow your throwline dead center and your good to go!

X-man.. Black widow rope , I also use that up in my palms tree climbs , the only thing about the BW is that it snags all the time on those nasty thorns, but since the SB came out that's that I use..
I'm pushing 210lb and that BW rope seems to small for my tall palm tree climb, but still the BW is a strong little rope , I guess it come down to trusting your ropes ..
