Installation of climbing line

Location
Chicago
Looking at the score sheet for the masters challenge it seems the scoring for installing a line could use some improvment. If you hit a #1 target first throw you are scored 11 points. If you hit a #4 on your 4th. try you are scored 8. Now at work I will always install my line high in the tree, it seems safer not to have to keep advanceing your line? And it also maybe a more productive and faster to throw a few times to have your line high.

Maybe it should be 2 pts less for every lower crotch, and one point less for every throw? I know its scored that way, so I just try to get in on the first throw. Especially cuz its timed. I hate not finishing the event!

Hey Mark.
I used the same method to get in the tree that you used in Nashville. Thanks for the idea. I don't know what the score sheets looked like, but I think its sweet. Totally safe and quick, and simple.
I went up with the rope in a low crotch, and when I reached that point I grabbed on to the line right above the double Kong ascender, and I started slowly going down some how. Maybe stretch in the rope, I'm still not exactly sure how. My point is that I freaked and let go, and fell onto my prussik that was on the double kong. Probably didn't look good, but my point is I'm still alive /forum/images/graemlins/cool.gif.

Its just like a beginner footlocker that runs out of energy trying to lock the rope and falls on their prussik. But I haven't done that in a long time. Makes your heart beat faster for sure.

not quite true, your first throw could score 18 points (10+5+3) and your fifth low throw would score 3 points, use the isa web site if you want any rule changes considered.
but make it soon as the wheels are in motion.

I know, right! That method of back-up seems full proof, thankfully.
Cheers, John
