Inspect your bucket

Recently I had set our lift truck up and was about to go up in it and dead wood a large pin oak. I thought to myself that I should give the lift a quick inspection before I went up. Something that I didn't do everytime. Upon inspection I found that the fiberglass on the bucket was severly compromised around all four bolts that attach it to the boom. I alway clip in with deceleration lanyard but I don't want to test one out personally. Inspection prior to working in a lift will be something I do every time from now on. Are professional inspections on airel lifts something that should be regularly done? If so. How often? Who does them?

I'm not sure about that, but I think ANSI requires equipt. checks every day prior to use. Probably for the reason you just described. Kind of gives you a pit in the gut doesn't it!
