Mark is correct with his guess. Cedrus Deodara. I didn't take any full shots of that tree because I felt it would be to much of a gimmi. However , I dont know how many deodars grow from mid west to to East. I guess I will try to take fuller shots in the future.I suppose there should be some guide lines to this , but i'm not in charge of that area.

Ok try this one. You have all eaten them before.

heres one that grows mainly in Cali, and parts of Oregon. Maybe else where that I dont know of .They grow very large on the coast , but smaller inland. Wood is very hard and grows in spiral layers.I'll give a pic of a small tree if you cant figure it out .

Give it a shot

Here's a fun one.... I've only seen a few of these, none over 20' tall. I don't think they get much taller than that.

This is picture of the whole tree.

Nope Roger, definitely not a Tan Oak.( Red Fir) silver tips ? or maybe a (Snowfrozenous) Is that really you ? Cool pic.

Juiceman. not a Madrone. Leaves are oval shaped, dark green and glossy

Wheres the Cali guys at ? should be able to pick this one right up.

Think Spaghetti !!!! sometimes used in it .

Nick . from what I can see of the leaves it looked like a Maple of some sort, but then looking at the trunk , I thought of Birch . Not familiar with the papery red trunk. Got me stumped on that one .

Greg, that's why I put that tree on here. The leaves send you one way, the trunk sends you another!

I'll give a few more people some guesses before I let the cat out.

Greg,

the shot is at Alpental, one hour from Seattle, at 5000 feet. No red fir this far north.

Here I am going a bit bigger. Puny compared to the drops my model did yesterday--a 35 footer, a barrel roll off a 20 foot drop, and a huge 50 footer off an icefall.

OK, then it's a California bay myrtle.

Nice job on the Acer griseum ! I thought it was gonna have you stumped for a few more days!

Anyone seen any tall ones, or do they pretty much stay around 20'?
