icetail binding

Anyone else have a problem with icetail 5/16 binding on velocity? I've only used it a couple times and every time it binds and doesn't want to slide on the rope. I've tried it using blakes hitch and that was horiable had to come down and take it off, vt was alittle better but still had problems.

My bet is that you need to try tuning your hitch more. A blakes is supposed to be tied in something about the same diameter as the host-line. Icetail is a bit smaller, so would bite down tight.

Play with the many variations of the closed/advanced hitches and I'm sure you'll find a combo that excels.

I've never tried Icetail on Velocity but I'm surprised to hear the VT binds up. Not only is it smaller dia (like Nick said) but it's pretty flat too. I've had good luck with the smaller of the Beelines on Velocity. Have you tried a knot like the Martin (Machochen something or other)or Distel? I've had pretty good luck with those, though I don't climb on velocity all that often.

Is it brand new?? i had this same thing happen till i used it for a bit... i run a VT....

Icetail binds. Its even worse if it gets wet.

i could never tune the ice on my system. Try adding more wraps at the top of the vt, that normally works for me if any hitch cord is binding up on me.

Tried the Ice before and never could get it to work for me. It always binds. Switched over to 10mm Bee Line and haven't had any problems with it so far.

Been on ice since it came out and ONLY have a binding problem when it gets real worn. I use a 5 wrap micuachan on tachyon/ivy.

Thanks guys, I'm glad I'm not the only one that had problems with ice. The icetail rope is new and the velocity has about 20-30 climbs. I had a cheap cord and tenex cord in the same diameter and it worked fine. I'm going to try adding more wraps or using a different hitch but if that doesn't work I'll order hrc or beeline next maybe that will work better.
