When it saw it mentioned in an earlier thread I panned it as "too much stuff". But then I thought it might be useful for gathering the pile of climbing rope that collects on the ground under my 3:1 system, so I bought one on Amazon for nine bucks.
I was impressed from the first look. It's light but sturdy, and there's no sharp edges.
I was removing a large dead limb today, and I knew it was going to drop on or close to my climbing line. I hooked the LG to a convenient limb, and stored about one hundred and twenty feet of Samson Voyager by gathering it into ten twelve-foot loops. It only took a couple minutes, and there was no tendency at all for the rope to slide around after being snapped into the slots. There were several unused slots, so I'm sure it'll easily hold 200 feet of rope. With the rope safely out of the way, I cut away the hanging dead limb. Then I lowered the climbing rope back to the ground.
The Lectric Gecko is the great for managing a bunch of rope quickly and easily in the tree. I'm really glad I gave it a try.
