In Dr. Ball's studies it's found that the accident rate is higher for longer serving workers and those in the industry for less than a year. The study doesn't break out the numbers by company size unfortunately. I see both around me. Big, small it doesn't seem to matter, bad habits are prevalent.
I think any sort of statistics on claim rate by co. size would be difficult at best and misleading. Many small firms have employees off the books that don't claim as the owner would rather pay the bill directly instead of through a WC claim whereas, a large employer is more likely to report all claims.
But I'm looking to see if there is anything out there to help understand how our industry's accident record plays out in the form of insurance rates and such.
