Re: I MADE THE PURCHASE!!! CHECK IT OUT!!!
I agree with extra tie downs. Ohio is one of the states requirng 4 point tie downs. I can do this easily with 2 loops in the back of the trailer. The Vermeer has hooks right on the frame under the cutter. It will be an inconvient set-up, but would be nice to have for the long trips. My drive to the first job is normally about 20 minutes on state routes, and then from there I'm nomally only 5-15 min between jobs just crusing through neighborhoods. I did not have the machine when I built the trailer, and would have included them if I had all the info at the time of the build. in all reality the only benefit you would gain by having the 4 point is that the trailer would crash along with the grinder, insted of the grinder only.
Side note- I kind of based this trailer on the Rayco design. They only have one pin, but it secures the macine real well, side to side, and up and down, still illegal, with no option for four point. Not to mention the axle rating they use is under the weight of the machine. I can see how they get away with it, but no matter how you load it, the tounge is overloaded or the axle is over loaded. Look at the web site and read the ratings and machine weight. For example-If I pull my machine more to the trruck Im reducing the weight on the axle, but overloading the tounge. IMHO the axle should be able to carry the full weight of the machine reguardless of tounge weight.
