hybrid bucket trucks?

I would love to have a battery powered boom. Granted we have a bucket kill switch, it still bothers me having a DT466 basically idling during use. A pony motor would be great, but I wonder of battery powered hydraulics.

I found this company.
wow

Launch assist from a 69hp electric motor would be nice.

Could put solar panels on roof and cross body and solar film on the booms!

The question is, how much?

I think some of the genie-type lifts (battery powered) have configurations that are much more versatile than the standard arborist bucket truck. I see no reason why a genie-type lift can't be mounted on a flatbed truck and plugged in at night.

You might look up Kappen tree service out of Michigan. I know they have at least one hybrid bucket. They had it at the MTCC a couple years back and it was gorgeous and so quiet.

Here is a link to a picture of Kappens Hybrid Bucket truck. I have operated it before in the past and it is very nice. Its strange getting used to operating with out all the noise. I also noticed it was quite a bit faster than all of the other buckets we have that are the same boom model.

The graphics on the truck were done by one of our employees brothers, which make the truck even better looking. It also has a custom Morbark chipper painted white with green accents that follow the arcing line of the truck onto the chipper. Very nice!
