HRC

Matk, thanks. I didn't have any trouble opening your spreadsheet. I was thinking of American Arborist Supply up in PA - been there before, bought a great saddle and some other gear from them.

I looked at the price of a 600" reel at bishco... $902. Ouch!

Thanks for the help.

Hey Gary,

Your link took me to http://www.arborsite.com even though it says http://www.arborist.com :)

How's this one work for you MS guys?

Glen

[edit: it looks like the links don't work in the saved copy when I save it to the (which one?) MS format and re-open it, though they do work in the standard XML format, so, nevermind...]

You are right...it's not going where I told it to...go figger. I did a copy and paste into Google and it went there fine..hotlink is a problem.

I have found the tech info and am working on getting it prepared to upload. I also asked for A list of sellers. I hope to have that tomorrow.

Thanks for the great comments about the TB Cafe!

Mark;

The attachment showed dealers, but no tech info. Do you have any tech info yet, or can you provide a link that does? I've already purchased the cord, but am still interested in the specs.

Thanks.

Mark, thanks. I just saw the info on HRC in the Spotlight section. I'm hoping to get some by the end of this week and try it out (ordered it 2 weeks ago from Bishop, but was told it wouldn't be in until last Friday, the 19th).

Again, thanks for your efforts,
Jim

You must be getting the end of that shipment, because I got an email from bishop today saying they expect to receive more HRC June 10.

This was after I waited 1 1/2 weeks for an order that included the HRC, only to find out the whole thing was sitting there waiting for the cord. I understand they have no control over the backorder, but surely they could let us know what's going on--sorry, I'm just a bit frustrated. Don't mean to run down Bishop's--this is my first time ordering from them. It seems to be a common problem with the suppliers I've used--they are better at the brick-and-mortar sales than they are at putting up web sites or communicating electronically. I'd say 3 of the worst 5 internet stores I've encountered are arborist suppliers.

Anyway, looking forward to trying out the HRC someday.

Bummer! I got a call last night, and you're right... June 10th.

It looks like this is going to be one very popular cord.

On edit:
I got it. /forum/images/graemlins/applaudit.gif Started calling and found a place that has 300'. &198/foot (which is slightly cheaper than Bishop's) for any length you want.

Northeastern Associates

West Paterson, N.J. 07424

Here's the web address, although it's not listed on their site: http://www.northeasternarborist.com/store/index.htm

You have to call to order.

I ordered my this morning, and they said I should have it tomorrow.

what kinda trees do they have at zelker and are you competing this year

[/ QUOTE ]
mostly pecans, but I haven't seen the contest site for this year. I decided to sit out this year and help Guy out with setup or something. I was getting so worked up every year over not ever winning that I wasn't really having any fun. I might come back to it in a year or two or maybe I'll start up a seniors circuit in a decade or two.

Thanks Jim and all ya'll!
I'm a happy climber today cus I was able to get some HRC from Northeastern Arborist and the rep. went to inspect what he had left and he said he had 400ft. remaining at $1.98/ft. just like Jim had said earlier.
As a newbie, I was able to learn the Knut today also.
And like Jim, Christmas came early cus I also received my new cool and stealthy forest green timber style Pacific kevlar helmet from Fresco Arborist who had the best price. Great Helmet!
So thanks to everyone and especially Jim for bringing up this thread, even us newcomers are learning!
See ya'll at the top! Keep it stealthy!(otherwise someone may think we're extreme!--but that's for another thread)

Good news Charlie. I think you'll like the Knut as well as the HRC (mine was delivered on Friday).

It's different than I expected, but in a good way. I like it a lot. Being so heat resistant, I thought is would have a firm. shiny cover like my KMIII Max and be a little stiff, but it doesn't and isn't. It's very soft to the feel, reminding me of a cotton clothesline in texture, and very supple.

I'm going to give it a try today after Church (and shopping with the wife). I post my thoughts later. Let us know what you think when you try it.

Bt yhe way, do you use DdRT, SRT or a combination of both? Do you bodythrust, footlock, pantin, etc, etc? I'd be intertested to know how you plan to use the hitch/cord combo.

Happy climbing,
Jim

Jim and all,
I tried the Knut today and it worked faaabuuulous!!!
I used it in DdRT with a Pantin. I like that combo. also. I used to use a footloop, but thanks to ya'll I like the Pantin much better. Also used the Knut in descent, but slooowly because all I had was a piece of Technora which is pretty tough, but I didn't know if it would burn or glaze the rope. I can't wait for the HRC though because even the tech cord seemed to heat up and glaze a little, similar to Jim. My main rope is the Poison Ivy which I like a lot and the Knut grabbed, released and tended with Micro pulley very well with this combination(Technora and Poison Ivy)
Sometimes I use SRT with ascenders especially if I'm not near the trunk and want to ascend quickly and especially if going high.
Let us know how the HRC performed for you. I should have mine in a few days and will report also.
Jim, do you also do any SRT and with what combo?
Anyone else want to share their SRT setup?
See ya'll at the top!
CharlieB.
