How's the Forest Fire Season in your neck of the woods?

I'm 42, lived in southern Ontario my whole life, we are hundreds and hundreds of miles from these fires. This is farming country. I've never seen smoke like this here. Thick, smelly, get in your lungs smoke. Blotting out the sun smoke. Keep your kids inside today smoke.
I don't know what the official narrative is because I don't have tv, but something seems off. We've had 2 separate multi-day incidents now, with tons of rain in between them. I don't know how it's possible for that much smoke to travel that far without dissipating. Doesn't make sense to me.
I've read some theories about it. None I know enough about to even share but the media sources I get my information from all discuss this being very unusual.

Where did you read it?
The launch pad for my reading is https://www.geoengineeringwatch.org/ From there I follow the source material and depending on how far I want to follow the lead, I keep going. I don't take opinions to heart. I look at the source and the citations in the articles and studies. His stuff on the forrest fires in CA is very thought provoking. I have several other people I follow who also reference the same information but this site is specifically geared to this subject, where others its one of many subjects.

Yup it’s a thing…. I’m glad you are alarmed as we have been dealing with this here with various levels of severity for the past 5 years.
It’s even crazier to wake up to a thin layer of ash on your car.
Shit is going to get much worse before the progression stalls. It’s not going to get better, but we will have better years and worse years.

I'm just curious and I know its a sensitive subject but have any of you guys looked into, or considered the effect Geoengineering has on the forrest, soil and water in relation to fires? Do you think it's a conspiracy theory or fake news? If you don't know much about it, would you be willing to read information about it with a relatively open mind? I'm just curious about how people in our profession are so aware of the environment but often poopoo any "fringe" narrative. I read an interesting article today about how the smoke flow in the northern hemisphere is in contrast to the Coriolis Effect and a plausible reason. This is an honest question. I'm always curious where people stand on stuff. I'm not trying to debate this either way. I'm just curious if you think its a legitimate possibility or a bunch of bullshit, and are you open to the idea?
Geoengineering is a very real thing, accidental geoengineering is climate change and exactly what we are all seeing. I have no doubt that much more experimentation has gone on and will continue.
But I also believe much can be a hoax or conspiracy theory as well. Like everything the truth often lies somewhere in the middle.

Well I'm relieved to not get told to fuck off. People have such a visceral reaction to stuff like this even though its factual and well documented all the way back to WWII. Anyway, there is some really great stuff of forrest fires on the site I linked if anyone is interested in hearing about the theory of what the elements to to flammability ect ect. This weeks YouTube addressed it also. I don't listen every week as he is so intense and leaves me feeling like jumping off a cliff due to the doomsday predictions. I still think some of his stuff is super valuable information. Sorry you guys are dealing with this.

I’ll still tell you to fuck off if you like. The scary thing about some of the most weird conspiracy theories is that they can be half truths!
The shear amount of horrors of secret experiments is mind boggling. Many of which are still occurring. One just needs to read up on the acid tests, on citizen subjects unwilling…. I don’t know if you have ever taken it? If so it would give you an ounce of perspective if being locked up in a psychiatric ward force fed LSD daily for over a year (or more)!
I could carry on and on.. the fucked up shit our government has partaken in, covered up, and straight up destroyed any record of is mind boggling.
Almost as crazy as knowing exactly what the outcome of our environmental trajectory is, doing little more than stomping on the gas to ram us all into a brick wall. OOR manufacturing crisis’s as a distraction to what is actually going on..
I’m a firm believer that historical corruption simply evolves better strategies

Well said. I’ve crammed an intense amount of research and education into my life over the last several years and it’s been an eye opener and a paradigm shift in my thinking. The mere unraveling of things I thought were rock solid has been life changing. The learning has been fun and some of the information is so intricate and detailed over decades, I find is absolutely fascinating. It is interesting that we know the bridge is out but we keep making the train go faster. Odd world we live in.

wildfire smoke IS moving with the airmass, which displays the Coriolis effect in its movement.
I understand that it moves with air, but what keeps it at ground level for a thousand miles? And what produces the "acrid, burning smell of plastics and synthetics, rather than a campfire smell."? This is my first experience with a long-distance fire

Thanks for the link Steve

"CHEMTRAILING" (not a scientific term)

Chemtrailing is the public's term for the CLASSIFIED ONGOING artificial modification of Earths climate systems using reflective nano-materials (aerosols) to reflect sunlight. The aerosols are dispersed via jet aircraft trails that expand into reflective artificial clouds. As noted above, the "chemtrails" term is not a scientific term and is thus used to discredit the validity of the anti-geoengineering effort. This term is not helpful to the cause of exposing and halting climate engineering and thus should be avoided.

The above text is from that website.
I thought that Chem trails were what people who don't understand condensation called clouds that form behind jets... and what comes
from people's mouths and noses and car exhaust pipes in winter.

That is exactly what “chemtrails” are, no airline is dumping chemicals in the air, they’re just making condensation while flying in the high, cold air. Propeller aircraft can do it too, given the right conditions. I’ve seen it happen, it’s really cool to see a spiral contrail coming off the prop blades on a big old airplane.

I have zero experience with long-distance forest fire smoke. Is it normal for it to smell like burning plastic? Honest question.

I do not have any experience either, but I can tell you that in this area the smell of the smoke varies. Sometimes, it smells like a trash fire with plastic and such. Other times, it smells more like a brush and leaf fire. And yet other times, it smells like a very efficient wood fire, more like a pellet stove.

I have no answer as to why, but have noticed the same…. I chalked it up to distance of the fire and different particles in the smoke diffusing.
As to why it can settle to the ground it might be inversions in the atmosphere

Smoke is going to circulate vertically as well as horizontally, especially as it cools. That's why it returns to ground level. The plastic smell is from the volatile organic compounds being released, some of which outlast the more reactive ones which mask the smell with the familiar burning wood scent. The more chemical-smelling compounds are travelling farther.
