How to keep hitch cord centered on biner?

What helps to keep your hitch cord centered on the biner?

I have 3/8th" Beeline with factory spliced eyes, tied with a VT on a William Biner. The eyes seem to like to migrate around from the end of the biner to the nose and spine, sometimes wanting to crossload the biner.

I'll use this on conifers a lot, where I will be supporting my weight on my lanyard exclusively, at times, and slack develops. When I tend the slack, I have to adjust the eyes.

I was thinking about rubber bands around the biner. Any better ideas?

That looks like a nice buy @ $20. I have looked at the 'corner traps', etc on other companies websites and never been impressed. I have switch carabiner styles to help keep my 'eyes' from sideloading.

The 'rubber band' method was shown on the Hitch Climbers Guide to the Galaxy... right?

Anyone use one of these tools?.... review?

How about a double fisherman instead of a splice? Seems to stay put.

This is my solution as well. Cheap, easy, better. If it gets sapped up or a even a little burnt, chuck it. Three dollars and three minutes later I have a new one.

I use rubber hose for petrol diameter is just great to get a snug fit on a biner. A lot off guys over here use the rubber off the bigshot for it, works great too.

Best option here are the new prussik cords with stitched eye splice (Edelrid Tibor) they are just big enough to fit the biner with a lot off force and won't move a bit.

Double fisherman is usually walking around the biner all the time, it just doesn't get enough load (on my case/weight) to stay put.

Rubber hose or bigshot will be very usefull for a minmium off investment.

I also use the Band-Its. Whether it is for my spliced eye and eye HRC hitches or double fisherman tenex hitches. It always keeps the eyes in place and loading the biner in the long axis. I also use symmetric biners like Petzl's OK or DMM's Ultra O.

I use hockey tape wrapped around the carabiner where the "band-it" would go. It seems to stop my eye 2 eye and rope splices from moving around the carabiner. It's cheep and I have heaps of it.

I just put the dmm ultra o's to use the other day for my hitch, switching over from petzl williams. Think there was a definite improvement in the amount the hitch cord eyes walked around.

I use a slice of an old bicycle tire inner tube. A very stout rubber band.

Installation process for my VT on Williams:

Inner tube band, right leg of hitch cord, pulley, left leg of hitch cord, grab inner tube, bring across with half twist, cinch it all up into the the top of the William.

That's not going anywhere, didn't cost me a dime.

Two cable tiers (next to each other) on the carabiner and a double fisherman to connect the vt to the carabiner. That stopped my problem with the fisherman sliding down, and sideloading the carabiner. The two cable tiers right below the fisherman attachment.

Cheep and easy! :-)

glue it down with super glue.

nah just joking. in all honesty the metal corner traps from sherrill are a great deal and they last a long time.
