How old is too old to climb??

my old mans gona be 60 this year hes been in the industy 35 yrs he still climbs from time to time small trees like 40 ft anything else he'll use a bucket and hes got quite the belly on him but he does it hes a tuff man been tryin to get him on the 3:1 but cant teach some old dogs new tricks and he loves climbing gets excited when he tells me he climbed like someone said in the beginning when your in your grave

86? I know guys that retired from climbing in thier 30s. I am 47 and climb 30 40 hrs aweek still at my own firm. I am now a subscriber to the GEEZER WARRIOR idiology now. My slant on this thread is how young as opposed to how old? JZ inspires me. Go girl!

My son is two, and already knows how to say "rope", "chainsaw", and "Acer". He even grabs the rope and takes the "footlock" stance, with one leg up... I would say that it is going to be impossible to keep him out of trees for very long. Lol.

I also have a two year old son, and he already has a saddle and line. (He does not climb yet)I keep telling him he can climb when he can tie his shoes. He can't wait, all I hear is daddy climb tree??? Jack a climb a tree daddy?? Its so darn cute.

On the too old thing...

I've discovered that I climb better without coffee. I'm not too old to climb but I'm getting too old to climb on coffee. Having the jitters on spikes really sucks.

Hey willbranch... how did he get certified? He's sposed to be at least three before he can sit for the exam.

Okay, your son is WAY cute Willbranch... Course I have to think mine is cuter, but what the heck. I will have to get a picture of him with his chainsaw and hard hat now. Thanks for the inspiration!
PS: I named my son after a tree (Alder). My guess is that he was either born to climb, or will become a computer programer and never go outside. LOL.

I love the name Alder!

We have decided to name our baby (if it is a boy) Climber Maximillion Zimmerman.

He will have to be a climber. I will not allow computer programming to spew forth from his fingers.

If it is a girl, we are leaning toward Leaflin Love Zimmerman.

As you can see, I am obsessed with naming our child after my profession.

Pretty sad really.

I also have a 2 1/2 year old son who can't wait to climb, and he loves to look through the sherrill catalouge with me.

But I had a daughter last friday so my 6 day old is the youngest tree girl I've ever seen.

Well I woke up this morning and CAN now say, "I FEEL OLD"! Our youngest daugher turned 20 today and our oldest will be 30 in October! JEESH where the heck did the time GO!!!! It seems like just Yesterday that Marlene was waking me up for the LAST 50 mile dash to the hospital.

I have worked with people from the older generation, and people from the younger generation. LOL I can still put the pups to shame, BUT I imagine the older generation said that about us TOO!

Age can be a frame of mind. Sure we might NOT be as quick as we used too, and might suffer a bit more by the weekend, BUT as we AGE we tend to work SMARTER, not HARDER!

I spent 19 years training in traditional martial arts (Shotokan) it didn't take long to figure out that our elders can still kick butt. ROFL I am gonna adopt the phrase "50 is the NEW 30"!

Have a GREAT DAY!

40's are the old age of our youth and the 50's are the youth of our old age. I don't know what I am now that I'm 60, maybe just old.
