Im looking at a 1993 Topkick diesel with an allison automatic under 100K. Its been well maintained and the guy wants 15K for it. Im thinking of offering 12K because of the advanced age. What do these things usually go for?

I bought a 2005 Chevy 7500 with the duramax and allison auto. It had right at 100K and I paid 15k for it. I sold the bed on it for $1800.

I bought a 2007 Chevy 7500 with a duramax and allison auto with 38K miles for 24k in 2009.

Hope that helps...

Maybe it is a blessing in disguise...

I think with a little shopping and expanding the distance you are willing to go to get the truck you can find a better deal.

I can say that I love with the GMC / Chevy 7500 with the duramax and allison combo. I think you can find one much newer with the better engine and transmission for a similar price... Good Luck!

I agree. I have shopped and traveled to find equiptment.

I actually flew to Virginia to inspect Bucket Truck before I bought it.
Chipper - 1 South Dakota, 1 Chicago
Stump grinder - Memphis (that was a good buy!)
Chip truck - Santa Barbara (no rust!)

I also flew to Memphis to inspect the RG50 stumper.

I bought the chip truck (1996) in 2002 for 14k. 85 k miles on a 4700 International

I have a 92 topkick with a 3116 cat and an allison tranny. I bought it 4 yrs ago for 16k. It's a strong running truck. I've had to fix minor things on it like the water pump, exhaust manifold and some leaks. I've been actually thinking of selling it and downsizing. It's a little big for my production level. It sure maks me money when i'm busy.
I talked to a mechanic about the engine. He said the only thing with these engines is cold starts. Fuel can be forced trough the injectors when starting on cold days which can get messy. I've had no problems though.

Here's a pic...
