How Long Should Your Bite Be For a Knot?

I like your thought. I agree.

Just to add to the argument:

1. When I first started climbing, nearly all spliced rope eyes were large.
I was taught to girth hitch the carabiner before attaching to the harness bridge.
So .............. large bight ................ girth hitch for added safety.
IMO not much added.
Release the load, and it could still move.

2. Another friend of mine, expert climber, suggested using a clove hitch, on a large loop.
For me, this would be a better option, but requires a very large loop.

3. Tight eye is best.
