Hoods

I'd buy in if it was separate from jacket. An accessory specific to a model of helmet for superior fit and function. Most jackets' hoods are not great fit with our helmets (before a sena and go pro) and the ones that do fit nice still pull on the shoulders of the jackets. The helmet usually slides under the hood when turning to the sides a lot. I would like it to not just be for cold rain but snow and high winds. Could ad a visor, that redirects the rain around off the back. Go with it!

I've found the high-end mountaineering jackets have very functional hoods. On a couple of jackets there is a shock cord in a sleeve at the hat-band. Bu snugging this onto a helmet it keeps the hood in place and the hood turns with my head.

Performance doesn't come cheap though. There are plenty of places to buy last-years stock.

Over the years I've been really surprised to see climbers spend big money on the latest piece of kit that claims some sort of superior performance then they spend pocket change on clothing the doesn't work as hard as they do.

I have probably purchased 15-20 high end jackets $350-$650 (msrp) in the last 20 years.
I've been a ski patroller for over 10 years now, working in temps as low as -28F (before the 45mph wind chill added to my skiing speeds that frequently exceed 50mph )

honestly one of the best hoods ever came last year with the pfanner rain jacket!
