and yes it does work up top to replace the dogbone by attaching the eyes directly to the shackle. It feels bit different though.
Yes, this quickie can be used in replacement of the Rope Runner carbiner as well. It can be attached to the rope bridge via another Quickie that replaces the bridge ring. Lots of options with this shackle and slic pins in generalThere were some comments by ethic that I didn't understand in the fb threat like bye bye biners and how it could be used for the rr. Maybe he can share.
Just a brief off topic-ish post, I just drilled out a stainless shackle so I can make a slic pin design for my independent RW tether, that was easy, thx for the inspiration Richard/treestuff. Is Nick going to be mad at me now? ;-) Not to worry not for life support.

we have played around with these a bit, however the size of the Quickie allows for the double slic pin to be used without having to take it all the way out in order for a rope to be passed through. The Larger wider shackle does that as well as accept a Rope Runner or a Hitch Hiker.
