History, Politics and Globalization Refresher

I sincerely hope the tea party keeps allegiance with their hero Grover Norquist.

No compromise regardless.

The pain and suffering inflicted on the middle class that results will be worth it to send the GOP to their respective homes/rooms for a few decades away from Capitol Hill for their well deserved time out, while real dems undo the poisonous policies made legal by them in the last 32 years.

This can only happen with majorities in both houses of congress and control of the White House like GWB enjoyed for 6 poisonous years.

I hope Obama has this rope a dope goal as his true intent, but I seriously doubt that.

Wishful thinking on my part I'm sure.

Any time mate!

There's not a long list of things I enjoy more than psychoanalyzing tea party neocons to try and figure out what makes them tick?

I mean your grandfathers paid higher taxes than you, won a couple of world wars and other noble conservative things like that.

Why is it so traumatizing to you to do the same thing?

What makes you so special you don't need to toe their mark of patriotic sacrifice, paying freedom's cost without whining and throwing a fit?

Thanks for participating on my couch friend......

And that's why I like you, mate... You never let the facts get in the way of a good political debate.

What branch did you serve in? I forgot...

Well for starters, my grandparents didn't pay the IRS any taxes at all.

And I'm unclear about your comment on "patriotic sacrifice".

Which branch of service did you serve in?

Ah yes, I see.

It was presumptions of me to assume your grandfather or dad fought in world wars one and two as mine did.

The point I was making is that upper bracket tax rates during both world wars exceeded that paid today in our current war.

http://www.ritholtz.com/blog/2011/07/tax-rates-deviations-from-average/

The patriotic sacrifice I spoke of was made by those Americans who paid well over 75% tax rates to win those wars without loading their debts upon the shoulders of future generations.

The very idea of lowering upper income bracket tax rates during a live shooting war was never even contemplated in this country until a neocon, GWB pulled it off first, followed by a neocon enabler, Obama, who followed suit.

Kind of a 21st century form of screwing over future generations by today's so called "leaders".

I think just thinking about toeing their forefather's line of sacrifice and actually paying the rates they did would send today's tea partiers into an epileptic fit.

Quite good at dodging questions, I see. You didn't inquire if my father or grandfather fought in the world wars; you said my grandparents paid more taxes than I do. Inaccuracy all around on your part.

If you want to measure patriotism by how much taxes one pays, than that is your choice. But keep in mind that the top 50% of income earners pay 97% of the total income tax revenues. In fact, the top 1% pay a little over 1/3 of same. So by your standard, the richest people are the most patriotic.

I can scarcely see why you'd mention the thought of "loading their debts upon the shoulders of future generations". Your great savior and self-admitted communist Obama has done more of that than any previous President combined.

So now tell me... Which branch of the armed forces did YOU serve in?

It needn't be overly complicated, either. But I dare say tax life is much more complicated for the higher earners than the lower, too.

The fact that rich wealthy folks in America paid through the nose during both world wars speaks for itself.

The fact that they no longer do so may be why this stupid war has dragged on for over ten years now?

If the richest folks still took it in the pants each time a war broke out?

There wouldn't be any more wars.

Today's reps and dems alike take great pride and satisfaction in being war profiteers. Something that would have landed you in jail during WW2.

We are an embarrassment to the greatest generation for obvious and plentiful reasons.

As you've dodged my question several times now, I think it's safe to assume you have zero military experience. Noted.

Of course the wars have dragged on, for many reasons. I wouldn't call them "stupid", however. (If you must... Hate the war, not the warrior.)

To suggest there wouldn't be wars if rich people took a financial hit is simply ignorant.

Yeah, for instance.

If at the very moment we went into Afghanistan, every American oil company executive knew they'd be paying a 94% tax rate on their gains until that war ended?

The war would have never started in the first place?

Want quick decisive wars that are brief and efficient?

Tax the wealthiest at 94% like they did in WW2.

We have precedent your honor!

No, I'm stating well documented and historical facts that can be easily substantiated.

That's the tea party's Achilles heel, their beliefs and convictions do nothing to improve their image or appeal when compared to real conservatives during war times of generations past.

It paints yuall in a most unflattering light, historically speaking.

jomoco

No... You're simply changing lanes every time you're cornered into having to make a direct response.

Apples and horses.
