Hiring Subcontractors Agreement

Steve Connally

Been here much more than a while
So there are a few threads about sub agreements and some discussion. What I am looking at is what you use as an agreement with companies you sub out for your jobs. For instance, I have one of my own jobs with the Treemek and need somebody to process the brush and grind the stumps. My insurance says I need a contract and agreement with the sub. I may also be needed to be listed as an additional insured. Can anyone help me with this?

Sounds like you are looking for a “hold harmless” agreement (google searchable). The insurance is easy, have them request a COI with you as the insured. This should be standard for anyone receiving proof of insurance. This can only come from the ins co or agent.

Hold harmless is different. I have one of those. Has to do with insurance coverage and such. It may kind of be a hold harmless but different than the one I use when I am the subcontractor.

I did. I have 3 different contracts and one is a subcontractor addendum they must sign. It's really not an issue as i'll probably toss my Workers Comp ghost policy next insurance year anyway. I had decided a few months ago I wasn't going to take on anymore private customers. It's just to much of a pain to try to manage the customer and all the subcontractors. I only used one company but I decided since they use me so much i'd just toss all my calls their way because they are gonna use me if they can anyway. They get the headache and I get to just do what I do and go home. It's much easier that way.

Heck ya,seems like its goin great.

Is there something that you have your clients sign when you are doing the sub type work?
