I suspect it'll be a lot like what I came up with for the Hump on the Rope Runner ( I literally put a screw driver in their for testing this time a Slic Pin) but definitely adjustable. I suspect it will either be a retrofit or a body replacement. Now that is innovative!
Does the rope need to be unweighted to insert the extra slic pin?
Will current HHX owners need to swap out the body to covert?
Might I suggest something like this https://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbil...c-Plated-Round-Wire-Lock-Pin-807488/204225915 instead of the quickie... I can imagine trying to push those detents in while under the rope (especially if it's worth) would be a chore. A smooth pin with keeper might be more used friendlyI suspect it'll be a lot like what I came up with for the Hump on the Rope Runner ( I literally put a screw driver in their for testing this time a Slic Pin) but definitely adjustable. I use a stevedore knot on the one that needs to be tied and untied because of the way it wraps up towards the dog bone and helps take out any slack.Slic!!
Wonder if that would help in the rain compared to when set for dry conditions. Maybe when there is less friction on the hitch, it might need a bit more from the pin.
What knot? Why not the regular HH knot?
Thanks, it's all very temporary.Might I suggest something like this https://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbil...c-Plated-Round-Wire-Lock-Pin-807488/204225915 instead of the quickie... IMO, yes.Is the stevedore easier to untie for fine tuning?
I'll just say that it can't be tended from that spot And it tell you it tends actually perfectly from the shaco anyway. I know everyone is used to the original but that's not how this one works. It would be neat if the adjustment bolt could be used to tend the device also. Can't wait to see how this develops.
Please don't ;-)I apologize and will keep my mouth shut regarding design. Enjoyed the video demonstration in post #17.
Before I drilled and threaded a hole, figured I'd just drill. So far I like it all enough to proceed but it will be a process with time.I know you did a break test on your HHX, have you had a chance to do that on this version? Seeing all of the additional holes in the body of that makes me wonder about the structural integrity of the device.
I do have to admit, when I first saw the slick pin modification I was not head over heels, it just didn't seem necessary to need to be able to unload the system in order to insert the pin for more friction. Unloading the system and retying the hitch cord would do the same thing. However the dition of the bolt in the spine is very neat. More times than I care to admit while getting my hitch cord dialed in, my HH2 would creep down my climbing line. A few turns of a bolt and voila, no more creep. Looking forward to seeing any future modifications.
