Hey Look at My Crud...

That would be my guess though this genus has beautiful colored wood in general. Interestingly this stem grew quite vigorously last season while the others had undersized leaves and poor color. Those stems are still quite alive though.

Is there much of a population of the parasitic wasp in Ohio? Have only been seeing it in Maine for the past 2-3 years in any kind of numbers.

Does it have a vine-y growth habit? The pictures are nice and clear...but don't really show the critical characteristics! To whit: kudzu has compound leaves. Each leaf has three leaflets. The central leaflet is itself lobed, usually with three lobes. Each leaflet on either side of the central leaflet usually have two lobes, although the lobes are not always very pronounced.
So in the #137 picture...that's almost there, but I still can't see what's attached to which.
Another field character are fine fuzzy hairs on the leaf surface. I don't remember if it is just one side or another.
Oh, that hasn't made it into northern New England, as far as I know. I lived in Georgia for a while and witnessed its power!

These are past their prime and being eaten by bugs but on a black locust with quite a bit of basal decay.

Soft and kinda stinky too. Tree is coming down as the wood is buckling but curious as to a possible ID. No P. robiniae on the tree visible.
