Help with Tree species

Ailanthus altissima is a great tree for re-claiming land with poor soil, abandoned lots ect in the big city, it's better than looking at old needles and condoms.
ps.
(not my favorite tree to climb, even when it's growing out of my face.)

I've removed a few of these. It is very difficult to get the hinge to hold on even a slight leaner. They tend to pop and fall where they want to (even with ropes).

I don't mind the smell. It reminds me of peanut butter. Nice fall color, too.

I would agree that they are invasive, but can be useful in reclaiming extremely disturbed sites. These things will grow anywhere! They have such prolific seed production as well (which is a big part of their invasiveness).

Invasiveness on people's faces!

No. I really like the peanut butter smell too. I need to get back to eating Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches again. Maybe put some banana slices on it while I'm at it.

Come to think of it, if I started packing my lunch again, I would save soooooooooooo much money.......

Ailanthus is an awesome tree. Im a huge fan. I even like climbing them as there really is no other tree like it. Grows where other trees can only dream of growing, like sidewalks and roof tops.

Suprisingly enough, when milled, it is a beautiful wood which is very hard and light and is actually sought after by some woodworkers It has a really nice yellowish color.

It has medicinal purposes as well. The chinese would make cups with the wood and drinking from the cups would do something good for the body. The chinese slaves we brought over to build our railroads brought ailanthus with them for its medicinal properties.
And Im sorry tyler, it can never be eradicated. Ailanthus trees will be growing long after we have destroyed ourselves. Please dont plant one on my face though.

those benches and lathe pieces and a bunch of that wood is now cruising around various art museums from detroit to europe. Crazy stuff.
