Help Me Decide on a Bucket Truck

[ QUOTE ]
Thanks Tom. What's a fair counter offer on the $42K truck? $35K?

Heading up there Monday to take a look at them.

If it is PRISTINE, 35K would be the higher end of what it's worth. I'd consider selling you mine for 30 if I knew I could get a loan for my next truck hahahaha!

http://www.steffentruck.com/ This is a truck dealer where Im from and they have some nice trucks. I know there not the perfect tree truck but they are priced good. I shopped for buckets for almost a year before I bought one but I had one already. You could buy one of these and shop for the perfect tree truck and sell the truck for what you gave for it. The only thing I can say is take your time and dont buy the first thing you look at and I would stay away from the gas motors.

We have both elevators and rear mounts as well as regular forestry lifts in all makes except ALC ,if I had the choice and money I would buy rear mount hiranger either xt60 or rm60-70. In our business these have been the best machines with lowest amount of breakdown just watch recalls, and two truck system is more fuel but way more efficient .on rearmount I keep 6-8 alturnamats on deck at all times.just my opinion

I like my forestry truck. We use it mostly for bucket truck use and we chip into our high capacity 25 yard chip truck. However once thats full its nice to be able to chute a few chips into the bucket truck or do some cleanup with the bucket truck or even tuck a few logs in the back.

I think you will like your purchase. It should make you some good money.

Truck looks great! What did you end up giving?

buy one an fix it an paint it your self why spend money twice on a cheap paint job those truck places put a quick paint job too make the truck look sharp an in a few months u start too see what paint was covering up

Empty Weight?

Trying to get registration done on this thing and I know many of you have the same truck. 2002 GMC C7500 Forestry - w/HighRanger XT55 ...GVW is 29260

Any idea of the Empty Weight?

Any ideas to make registration less expensive?

Re: Empty Weight?

I have bought 5 or 6 of these trucks from forestry equipment of Shelby. Meredith is great to deal with and will stand behind her trucks. I have had the last three delivered sight unseen.

That's a good testimonial Dooley. So you know these trucks well. Let me know if there's anything I should keep an eye on. Things that might be inherent with this truck and boom.

Btw, Meredith doesn't beat around the bush. I like her. Thomas, the head mechanic, is good people too.

I just bought another one Friday it's in rout here now

I was told by my driver/mechanic to stay away from the gas engines. You'll spend a lot more in the long run on fuel and won't have the towing power. I bought my bucket for 42K and it has a cat 3126 in it.
