Helmet: Which one would you recommend?

I am looking to purchase an arbor helmet. Considering the KASK Plasma Work or the PETZL Vertex Vent II, can anyone provide feedback on their experiences?

I've been wearing the Kask for a long time with no complaints. It fits well and stays in place on my head . I ve had other heets that moved around. That was irritating at a minimum and sometimes gave me headaches

I use the clear faceshield and then wear tinted safety glasses underneath in bright conditions.

Ditto. Very happy with it.

Tom, is the Kask rated for side impacts like I believe the Vertex is? If no, is that concerning to you?

I have both the older style Kask and I currently wear the Kask Super Plasma, clear shield, and muffs. Never had a problem with any components loosening, or falling out with eithe. Very good helmets! The interior design is what does it for me, the straps and loose fit of the Petzl irritaed me.

If the Kask ever failed me I would go back to the Pacific Kevlar helmets.

Ive had both the kask and various incarnations of the Petzl. Right now I have the new Petzl vertex vent and think it is a better designed and longer lived helmet. It isnt nearly as cool looking but my Kask was completely spent in only 8 months of work. My old Petzl was solid for 4 years.

Have had my vertex best for 3 and some change. Still solid, smells something fierce though even after a wash. Definitely getting a vent next time.

I preordered this helmet.
And then got to try one in Hartford.
It was shown around at the expo.
Its the best of all the hats I have tried
including Kask and Petzl. I have both.
Comfy, looks durable, gave it a vigorous head shake with zero movement.
Easy to adjust to fit.
Muffs are very quite plus screen mounts and positioning are cool. Everything stows away and the venting system is easy to work.
Basically what you see is what you get with this helmet.
I have no hair on my head and the hat has got to be just right or it can be quite bothersome with slipping and sliding.
Seems with this 1st fitting it locks and sits perfectly and comfortabely
It is light and sleek.
The preorder on the helmet was intuition but now i know it is perfect for guy like me who tends to use his head like a ram rod to help with directional felling and pushing my way thru thick crown.

Pfanner makes some awesome stuff but really challenge you to look like a Lego soldier or freekin' Speed racer himself. I would have to get a custom paint job or add bozo hair and a rubber nose!

How were you able to order that helmet? Johann told me they wouldn't be available until May. Did you pre- order it? I really liked the fit and how it felt. Do tell do tell. Who was the lucky winner at the Expo by the way.

Oh and I currently wear the Vertex Vent. Three weeks old and I hate it. it is too loose and wobbles all around unless you have the earphones down. that is a PITA

The Protos Integral will be available in 4 color schemes as shown below.

I tried on a prototype back in June and it is so much better in person than pictures can have you understand.

Cory, The write up on the Kask says it is rated for side impact.

I currently have the Vertex Best. No real complaints apart from it feeling like a greenhouse on my head. Would go with the vent next time.

For the kask guys, does the guts of the lid get turn into a sponge during a hot day?

Anyone use the Petzl Alveo?

My head turned into a sponge this last summer here in Austin.

Take a look:

No helmet would have been any better than another I think. There wasn't a time during the summer that I felt like changing back to my Ecrin.

Adding this Halo Headband makes my head cool. The fabric works really well. The really nice feature is the 'gutter' on the forehead that directs the sweat to the sides. Worth very penny!!!

Sorry but those protos helmets need toning down a bit I get enough flak with my 2 Kasks. Non climbers keep asking me if I still play space invaders or if I am out to cast for Top Gun. But it's for my protection I know why I need head protection especially after having a log nearly knocking me out and that was deadwood. Helmets do protect however I don't want nothing so sign post like. By the way I love my Kask with smoke visor and low profile muffs, got me a black older model and a white new model, plus there I also have a hi viz red but it is way to loud. I am very conservative liking dark colors, although probably better viz in the tree.Kask is a beautiful fit just like atlas gloves or the sequoia saddle, well vented for here in the tropics, and I love the stinky sweaty smell never wash them, leave that for the pretty boys. Later dudes.
