Ed, Jason has advanced a lot more than you give credit for, he hires climbers ... you know, guys like MB and you usually work for bosses like him. I suppose many on this board can relate to that, run tip top businesses with good staff so they can work on the business rather than in the business.

So lets not compare his climbing skills but rather his business skills, what would be some good parameters ED?

How about OHS compliance and offenses?
Tax offenses?
Workcover claims?
Personal health?
Profit as a % of turnover?
Return on advertising investment?
Ranking of website?
Staff turnover?
Insurance claims?

Got any others?

From what I know he's doing well in all categories and has a solid crew with exceptional skills. Melbourne is also the home of some of Australias best trained and skilled climbers. Living on urban/rural fringe about 1 hour out of the big smoke means he can get urban minded go for it people who have moved out a little for the best of both worlds and enjoy a slightly slower pace.

Smart move Jason, you have a business that many would envy. I congratulate you and believe me, if I wasn't so bogged into Brisbane I'd be out of here to.

How did you fair in the fires, I heard Gippsland got torched a fair bit?

When time permits ill take some footage of myself doing some trees in basically retired from climbing and far too busy Sorry Ekka but some rules i have to run the buisness would exclude MB or mr Ed from climbing for me plus they have little or no experience in hardwoods.maybe a crane job.

Haha, Dream on, you couldent afford me Jason. I only climb for fun nowadays. As for experience, I've worked in hardwoods on 3 continents - Yours included. I was earning $40 an hour in Australia 10 years ago dismantleing Eucs.

Funny how your mouth moves but the sound comes from Ekka. Whats with that?

Good shot Ekka. Do you get many spiders etc in those palms or what ?

[/ QUOTE ]

You sure do! big hairy huntsman spiders, Golden Orb's, redbacks occasionally and tons of cockroaches hiding behind the dead fronds.
I can understand Eric felling those dirty things over climbing them any day.

And I thought it was just me that noticed that.

Ed, they dull the chain quick but the biggest problem is that unlike a solid lump of wood pieces fall off and can be quite heavy and bust stuff under you ... like roof tiles etc. Do you remember that?

I remember one day I was cutting thru this palm head and a bit of butt flew off the end of the chainsaw (in a forwards direction) across and above the fence and arced in downward right onto the neibs roof ... bang! 2 busted tiles!!

Lucky the guy had heaps of spares but it was a bugger fitting them and wasted another hour. I try to get rid of the heads whole where possible but sometimes you just have to dice it up.
