Head sets

Hey guys,
We are looking into getting some head sets for crane work and some of our more technical removals. Anyone have some input on any that work well, or any to stay way from.
Any help is appreciated.

Eartec's going to be the next brand I buy. I'm convinced.

Have they found a way to make them compatable to clip into our helmets? If not, it seems like one more thing for us to whine about.

Because the flimsy ear muffs look like one is committed to keep the ears covered the whole time, one works; without any chance to vent now and then. Is that true?

very eassy to install yourself or im sure they would do for you...take your helmet headphones apart and bury earpiece under the foam file a notch into the actual headphone to allow the wire to pass and reasemble!! simple!!

The June TCIA magazine shows the new Eartecs, no belt pack...

Weird. I don't think they even have them advertised (mounted on a helmet) on their own website. But, thanks for that.

Hmm... Interesting. I didn't think of that. I guess electronics is not my strong side. Your kung fu is too strong for me Paul.

Boston Bull mentioned Eartech has something new coming out. I e-mailed them for info and availability on the helmet headsets.

We just ordered the Eartec 24 g system, which allows the climber ("master radio") and one other person (one of any number of remote radios) to talk simultaneously, with all the others able to listen in. The remote radios can switch off between themselves to be the one who can transmit, but they'll have to signal each other to switch. No base station, so a lot less expensive. After a year of trying to get Peltor and a local vendor to fix the defective headsets we previously used (and they broke after just one use), I decided to move on to a better system.

It gives us simultaneous communication between climber and crane operator, which by itself is a huge upgrade over the old system we had, plus another remote radio, for considerably less money than the other system. Buying the better part of a 3120 with the money we saved.

Gotchya.

I use the eartec digicom with my crane operator. I am looking to buy my own set up, and was wondering why you chose what you did. Thanks
