Have you ever?

Has anyone ever added power steering to a truck that didn't have it? I have a 75' f350 i got a while back and have another thread about. It's working great but my chipper is very narrow and very difficult to back up a windy driveway without power steering. I'm thinking about adding power steering and was wondering what others experiences may have been like in doing so. From what I understand I would have to change the steeringbox (it doesn't have fittings on it), get the pump, a mount for it, some brackets, and a pulley. It doesn't seem all that complicated although my knowledge of trucks and motors is limited. Any advice is warmly welcomed.

It is definitely possible. Those years of Ford trucks all the way up into the early 90s have a lot of interchangeable parts. A good scrapyard would be your best bet so you can get everything you need. It should be a mostly bolt on deal. Brackets for the pump will be specific to the motor. Or you can build them if you are handy.

Definately doable. I put power steering on my dads 1970 F250 for him. The one thing is that the steering box it self is longer than the manual one, so you either have to shorten the shaft on your existing column or get the column from the truck the box came from.
