HAAS Connecting point

Guess I'd have to see it work to get it. Seems like you'd loose a lot of progress with the bungee below

Look at it again. The more bungee you get into the system, the more it will be able to stretch. By bringing the bungee within those tubes, it lengthens how much bungee is in the system and will capture all of your progress with ease. The Haas works pretty much the same way, but just within one tube. Yoyo man doubles it up.

I agree with evo. You can still use your neck tether throughout your climb but for long ascents away from the trunk using the Haas, use something tough like your lanyard to tend your whole system. Maybe where your lanyard goes over your shoulder and clips in, make a small prussic loop right next to your biner and clip in your Haas there.

I made a chest harness, and sometimes use the lanyard over the shoulder. I never have tried the neck tender, things around my neck freak me out. I can't even wear high collar shirts or turtle necks. Just brainstorming

I have a petzl chest harness from years ago. Never really liked it. I may give it another shot. Have to add an accessory Biner to it to clip in to the hitch set up. Guess I have t try to find yoyos video on how he made it.

I have the same thing and the same problems. Except I am ascending with just my hitch and switching to ddrt. I use some tech cord girthed to keychain biners with a Blake's tied with the tail to get it tight as possible and I clip that to the belay loop on my saddle (liger). Which works significantly better than lanyard and leaves it free to buck in once at tip. I also attach my homemade Haas to my bridge ring and that seems to give me the maximum stride I can get with the short bungee.

So I watched Richards SAKA video and all the haas videos. Clearly I have not make he most efficient system out there. I see why mine doesn't work well. In order to make my own I think I'd have to sew something. Not happening. Don't have a machine. I guess I either need to just buy a haas or pm Richard. I do like how his has a d ring but like the one piece solution of the haas. So who wants to buy my croll? Lol

A knee ascender like your's, with a relatively short bungee, will greatly benefit by having the bungee lengthened, placed over the shoulder and attached to the back of your saddle. That's the way I ran my first DIY knee ascender until I couldn't stand the over the shoulder bungee any longer and Richard educated us all on the SAKA.

I did the over the shoulder and had rope burn on my neck every day. It was awful. I just went ahead and ordered the haas today. I guess I shoulda really looked at the construction a long time ago.

Steve, maybe think about swing dudes chest harness. Mac and Eric praise it. Or I am rocking something like this. Sash style harness, very easy on/off, comfy, adjustable for winter layers, adjustable prussic for Saka or Haas as well, all made out of simple stuff you may have lying around.

There is also an older style of a rope walker system that has a floating knee ascender with a long bungee. The bungee goes up through a bridge ring and back down to the opposite foot ascender... I think Wesspur either sells it or did. You should be happy with the HAAS though.

Thanks guys. My HAAS should arrive Tuesday and the BDB today. I will play around with the different set ups with the haas. Now I have to figure out this BDB. I hope it comes with pictures lol

I just started using the HAAS. What I'm doing so far is running a bungee over my shoulder right next to my neck then down across my back to one of my D rings. I used a pretty heavy duty bungee cord too. Gotta make sure T shirt is protecting your neck from chafing. Doesn't interfere with the SRT device at all. It has been working great so far, no limit on length of stride.

What you are doing is negating the benefit of your HAAS.
For about 80.00, including the price of the Croll you can do this and get that same effect without spending the extra 30 bucks for a SAKA..........or more.
