Ground protection mats???

After months of Sherrill showing the Notch mats out of stock, I finally saw on their site that they were now in stock. I called them up and told them I needed 20. Maggie said ok, let me call you back with a shipping quote. She calls back with the quote, I say that's fine. Maggie says," Oh, we only have 5 mats in stock!" She also couldn't tell me when they would have more in.

All that to say I'm done trying to run those down. Anybody used the DuraDeck brand? They are 4x8 at 86 pounds with no handle holes. But, they have plenty in stock and it's wet here. It's not feasible for me to continue to wait on Sherrill.

For what it's worth, the DuraDecks 4x8 are the same price as the Notch 3x8's

Any advice is appreciated as always!

I was talking to Ray over at Gap power arborist the other day and he doesn't seem to have a shortage of Alturna Mats. They have discounts @ 12 & 24. It might be worth a phone call or email to figure out what its gonna cost. If it stays wet around here we will be picking up 20 more in short order.

IMG_2246.webp So my mats finally arrived today! I spoke with Eric with Liberty, but it didn't seem like that great of a deal. I wound up with NEW 4x8 white mats with handholds by DuraDeck. They had plenty on hand without hand holes so I waited on them to make me some with hand holes. FWIW, I got these new for the same price as USED black Liberty mats and the shipping was $100 less. They have a 7 year warranty. Time will tell if they are quality that tree guys need! I'll be happy to share my contact if you guys are interested in any. Salesman told me that he would honor the price I got to any of my friends.

I've been using and abusing the notch ones for about 6 months or so now. We like them alot . The handles are a must imo..after useing them..they are very tough we've discovered after speedlining brush and logs onto them . Hell I even bounced the stump grinder off one and it took it like a champ
Had a fat pine branch stab through the handle on the one as ive resorted to to just droppimg trees on them in nice lawns :)and it went back to darn near normal after we pulled it out. I'm still impressed with the notch mats everyday. 11376.webp 11375.webp
