My thoughts exactly Holly. Ive never seen one with a handle on it, but it's definatly a grillon(by the looks of it).

Just curious to why your gettin rid of it. Do you not like it? I actually really like mine with blaze runnin through it, but thinking latley on just goin with a hitch cord n pully

Good deal tho! if anyones been thinking about the Grillon. you should get on it

GriGri = Grillon without a lanyard.

According to Petzl there is no difference. At least in the latest model...

The grigri has a spring in there somewhere, no? Another difference is that the grigri has a swing plate type of set-up, the grillon is screwed shut. Unless they made them the same thing.

Yo Man, I'll take that off your hands, How does 60 sound. Can I pay 20 every Sunday for three Sunday's??

I have a Grillon and a Gri-Gri. The Gri-Gri body has a spring in iy as well as the retracting handle. The 3 yr old Grillon has no spring, I does have an extra screw by the pivot point to keep it from opening when there is NO carabiner in the attachment hole.

Banjo's resembles the NEW version of the Grillon on the petzl site. When you don't have a Biiner in the hole does it open???? And, is the handle into the body spring loaded? Just curious! I am gear ready, work short!

They both screw shut, I guess the handle addtion is the only differance.

No Tom they both dress the same, same with the ID and eddy. Rope sits in them the same also.

Holly, I realize that they work the same way, with the same mechanism, but the Grillon is screwed shut, making it good for a lanyard but not for a belay device or for use in a RADS/yoyo system. Since the Gri Gri doesn't screw shut (right???), it can be included or removed from the rope without the use of a screwdriver. Correct me if I'm wrong, I've never actually owned a Gri Gri, just a Grillon.
