Grapple

Re: Grappel

We love our Hoods. We recently bought the new graples with continuous rotation. No more ripped or broken hoses, nice.

Re: Grappel

Mark;
I hate to chase you off your own board /forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif but you might try the Forestry Forum, lots of loggers familiar with grapples there.

Have you looked at loglift? I know they are selling a lot in the states now. Are you getting a new loader, or just the grapple? ( those loaders you guys run sure look antiquated in comparison to european log loaders)

we have a hultdin and well from my view of it it grabs well enough and is big enough to get round most things. when i've been anchored on to it, it felt stable enough

I found a picture of our new grapple. Continuous rotating head is the only way to go. We set our grapple up on its own truck and load the debris on other dump trucks so that the grapple can still do stuff on the job site while the trucks are dumping the debris.

Our woodbuyer uses this cabover Scania truck with adjustable trolley for the desired lenght needed. There are also systems where the trolley can be lifted up the truck for empty transport, the logs are the connection between truck and trolley when transporting.

What type of trees are on the right side of the road? They look like Platanus occidentalis (Sycamore) from the picture.
Now I know why they tax your gas so much, nice strecth of road.

We have a contiuous rotation Rotobec grapple on our log truck. It is a great grapple, very durable, and not a single problem in 5 plus years of ownership.

Nope other brand. London Plane. Platanus X acerifolia

I know only two Platanus occidentalis (oriental plane?) in our region, a 100-120year one and a 15 year one.

Nice pics Ronald, VERY nice truck. Now I must find some pics of my grapple truck....
Mark- Inteesting idea about having the grapple truck seperate. Do you not bother chipping, and just take brash to a central point and tubgrind it?

heres my grapple truck. 4 axle 32 tonne gross volvo with loglift crane.

Mr Ed, is that a 135 Z loader? I have been pricing 135 and 165.

I'm not sure if I am telling my story right. I'm buying a truck that is a log truck. It will be a Sterling 9513 or similar. I am looking to mount a knucleboom behind the cab that has a longer reach than most (45-60'). And I am putting a dump body on it and a grapple (w/ quick disconncets). Sound good? Otherwise I might buy the loglift 165Z and do it like that.
