Grapple

Sounds very good! I think it depends what your doing. for just timber, a rear mount with skeletal body is best for payload. with the alloy rims and timber pins I can carry 20 tonne with that thing. Mind you the crane is only a 105, not a Z either.
otherwise, I reckon a three axle with a tipper (english word for dump)is more versatile.

I believe that we found the right builder. A Heila boom w/ 55' hydr. reach. It will pick 2000# at 55.5'. Add a Kinshoffer grapple and dumping box (20'w/ 5' sides). Remote controls and dummy chair. I might add a winch to the boom as well. We'll see. Expensive rig though. /forum/images/graemlins/blush.gif

The truck I'm trying for will pick 20,000# at 9'. This would be good to have for picking a stick of wood off the trunk because the grapple will have quick dis-connects for the lines and a lock pin. That way you can use it w/ chockers and grab a stick that can't be dropped w/o having to bring a crane there. I'm hoping that it works out for us. I'll let you know if we get it.
