Got Ripped off

Ricky I agree with Grover it is a very strange tale but you have been brutally honest in telling it! (esp the bit about dumping the brush

)

Sure does look like codom stems in the pic you posted, strange the HO should be wanting the two stems to weld back together...looking for something to complain about imo...I guess the driveway dumping may have provided more than enough ammo there though!

Here's hoping that your ducks walk in a straight line into court...

I tried for the removal of the whole tree and when I went back to see her the second time I should of said It needs to come down. But.....At first the B wanted the stem topped off and let it sucker out. I convinced her otherwise then she wanted it remaining stump braced. When the limb was removed and didn't come back together any I then suggested to remove it right to the ground and concrete the hole in the bottom. She looked at me like I was crazy. Never been to small claims court and should be interesting. I'll see how things go..

How much is she into you for $$$-wise?

At this point is it really worthwhile to spend the time in the court room arguing your case?

If not, might be worth just walking away and recording it in your mental ledger as "tuition paid for a valuable lesson"

I've had my share of those over the years. Not fun to record it that way but sometimes better than standing up and getting shot.

Wow. You actually dumped a load of chit in her driveway?

Kinda shot yourself in the foot with that move Slick.

And you consider yourself a pro? The move of an amateur if you ask me.

Maybe she'll take you to the cleaners! Sounds like you need it.

I would have just filed a lien.

Concrete???????????????

The "amazing" clean-up looked thorough. A good way to complete any job that is not "drop and leave", or otherwise agreed in writing to not be thorough.

Were they ever split? If not, then there is no bringing them back together? Actually there is no bringing them together, as there is no "back".

What was the cause for the one trunk to be removed? Why was it left at a few feet tall? Was that the suckering out part?

The whole thing is a little confusing.

Some people will get to live vicarious through the dumping, as most people have had the idea/ temptation, and even threatened, but haven't heard of anyone going through with it. Perhaps you'll choose a different approach next time.

It'll be interesting to hear how it all comes out in the end.

It was a grand and ya I'm not goin to bother with court. I admit I shouldn't have dumped in the drive ( stones) but she pissed me off with the smirking and especially the not paying part. It's a lesson for me and I will move on to bigger and better.

Good for you to take it in stride. It would be advisable to try to make amends with her, especially if it is a close community. They say that if you do a good job, people will tell a person or two, whereas if you do a bad job, they will tell anyone who will listen. You might even get paid some or all.

Good luck.

If you find yourself in a dilemma, try the Buzzers for some good advice, first.

Look into you local laws regarding leins. Just the threat of a lein will get most people to pay, if they are just trying to stiff you without cause.

Will do SouthSoundTree. Good advice. I like the lien idea. Just she took me for a whirl there. She can pound salt cuz I ain't goin back there. As far as her telling people, one in ten years ain't bad. I can deal with it. Thanks for your imput.

First thing I noticed Ricky, after looking at that "split stem" (that was NEVER going back together), was the stellar clean-up job! I appreciate that kind of work-Kudos! Glad to hear your taking the high road and moving on...you got hooped. But still... "no concrete-EVER"!
