That last picture is what I believe to be irregularly shaped, kind of amorphous seed clusters of many tiny seeds.

Agree, looks like a green ash to me.

I have worked on plenty of those around here, and these leaflets don't have any point at the ends, and the seeds aren't correct at all. None of the guys I work with have been able to make a positive ID, including the one who got us the gig.

That's Ash. I don't attempt to differentiate white or green ash without seeing how the bud sits in the leaf scar.

Look at the bark too, not just the leaves. I agree they seem a bit rounded at the end but all other signs point to Ash.

Well shit. Thanks guys. The seed-like pods did look irregular/damaged, so that helps it all make sense. I was hoping for a more interesting find, but I am glad to have my initial suspicion confirmed.

Yeah, the only big ash here are ones that have been treated. There are smaller trees coming back in the woods, but I doubt they will make it long-term.

The mites/flower galls are pretty widespread around here.

With only pictures online to reference, I am inclined to agree as well. Pointing out the fact that the reproductive bits were mite damaged helped a lot.

I agree on it being a fraxinus(ash) and those are a type of gall If im not mistaken. Midge fly comes to mind...
