glasses

How many of you who climb wear glasses? I do, haven't lost them yet, but have come very close several times.

I was joking around with a friend the other day, he has a tree in front of his place that needs to come down by the road. I said he and one of his friends should control traffic, so like that we've got a millionaire and a billionaire controlling traffic, and a Jewish kid with glasses climbing the tree.

I lost mine a few times. I throw them out of the tree when I get pissed off because I am soaked either because it is hot as hell or its raining and dont have a dry spot on my shirt to dry them off. I hate wearing glasses to no end. It affects my depth perception depending on how I am looking out of them climbing around.

I have lost them a few times getting caught on a sucker swinging around or going up through something thick like a cedar.

I wear presciption glasses so I have to deal with the snags, fogging, and smudges. The one cool thingg I found out though was that alot of the big shade companies offer presc. leness in their lines of sales. I went with Oakley for the one reason that they are really great shades and really tough. They maybe lots of money but to me my eyesight is worth it. That as my buds tell me now your stylen.

I wound up picking up those goggles that RR recommended on MB's forum. So long as I remember to wear them I don't have any problems with the glasses falling off or fogging up.

Hl Tree,

How about cross posting the info from TH? Share the wealth...of knowledge :)

I just bought my first pair of bifocal safety glasses. Not prescription just 'cheaters' They cost about $7 and the "cheater" is down in the corner by the nose bridge. It is interesting to get used to the 'fuzzline'.

I never work without them. I was once clearing brush on the ground in 100* heat and took them off (like BJ did) and no more than 2 minutes later a 12" long section of green briar flew outta my saw and stuck in my face. Three or four holes starting in the cheek and ending above the eye. Too close for me, so I never work without them anymore-ever!

I wear some nice contemporary safety glasses pretty much from 7am till I pull in the drive. Couple different shades for different climatic conditions. As well you get UV protection. If it's a habit it isn't something to get used to.

3 years ago I had LASIK and corrected my vision, after nearly 40 years of hassle. People who have had to wear glasses would understand the pleasure of not looking through "fog" anymore.

I do make sure that I wear eye protection, but now if it gets hard to see through I can take them off and see well. I believe it to be much safer to have this option. /forum/images/graemlins/bigeyes.gif

I use the Stihl's also, The Wrap Around, I believe. No distortion.

I use them for mountain biking, too. Guess I get my $8.00 dollar's worth /forum/images/graemlins/cool.gif
