General liability

Had my insurance co. Call today and wants to come watch me remove my next tree. This could be a good thing in my eyes as I am strictly professional. Just wondering if anyone else had this happen to them. Thanks

I have had this happen quite a few times. The rep has always been polite and knowledgeable in the basics such as PPE and safety features of chainsaws.

A few times a team member or two has been caught slacking with eye protection!

I usually get some suggestion for safety meetings along with some literature the insurance company has on safety and education.

All in all, I used it as an opportunity to educate and introduce the real world aspects of what we do every day. A good chance to open a dialog with people you send a lot of money to on a regular basis.

[/ QUOTE ]so your gl policy has had some one come and visually safety audit your employee's safety behavior? My wc policy said they would do that at my request. My gl policy has nothing to do with my employees well being as far as I know.

Thanks guys y'all eased my mind. Wasn't sure what is was about. I've always been a safety conscience climber and owner. Although any feedback I get from the rep will be taken seriously and will help my company in the long run. I carry nothing but the best ppe equipment u can get and am very strict on safe practices so everything should be ok. Again thanks guys

Yea,had this happen to me about 5 years ago. Some insurance co's don't exactly understand what your doing so they send someone out to watch so they have a better understanding of exactly what risk they are underwriting.Although in my opinion this could mean the insurance co. you chose may not be the best option for tree service insurance just because the policy may not be as extensive as a policy through a company that understands tree work.Just something to think about.

You have nothing to lose. If they don't like how you do it there are plenty other fish in the sea. And by fish I mean insurance companies.
