I have some, have to find them though.
Basically:
-The 520 lifts a ~8" higher, weighs a couple thousand pounds more, and costs ~$10k more.
-The 540 is available with 2 post or 4 post OROPS, or an enclosed cab with heat or heat and air conditioning. The highest spec 540 is cheaper than the base 520 last I knew.
-The 520 is wider and longer, less visibility and is noisier. The 540 specs higher in tractive effort, although that would be tough to tell aside from the 540 having a higher gradability due to more tractive effort and less weight.
-The 540 comes with push button locking differentials front and rear, the 520 comes with a limited slip differential (perhaps one in each axle).
-Lastly, the controls of the 540 are superior by far. The auxiliary functions, high/lo speed selector, forward/neutral/reverse, and differential lock switch are all on the right hand joystick. Under the steering wheel is the hydraulic power attach (optional), lights, beacons (optional) and probably something else. The 520 has a lever for the joystick and another for the auxiliary functions on the right hand. The f/n/r is on the left turn signal position best I remember.
I'm far from a Kubota hater, my track loader and excavator are both new Kubota's less than a year old. Still, for a compact wheel loader, Gehl is the winner down to the 400 and 500 series Avants. Above the 540 isn't terribly practical for residential tree work due to tire loading and machine size, but Terex and Wacker Neuson both make nice machines in that size.
