I apologize if a similar question has already been asked. (Searching the internet provided little results).

I'm looking for unbiased reviews on gecko aluminum spurs. My employer has offered to buy me a new set of spikes and I'm taking the oppprtunity to rid myself of my old buckingham steel climbers.

If there is anyone who can give me positive or negative reassurment I've made a sensible choice or not on a new set of spikes would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

They are great! Comfortable! Seems like the stirrup is made for a very narrow foot but it doesn't affect the comfort. I've used klein and climb rights and these easily top them. I think my favorite part about them is the gaff because even a light foot gets a good purchase

Buckingham Titaniums with super wrap pad and steel insert....thank me later////I prefer the offset ( on skinny tops ) than Geckos and I have had them both....

Super comfy and super light. If your gonna get new spikes get the boss to spring for carbon fibre geckos instead. I have regular aluminum geckos and I think that they are the best spurs I have used. ( the carbon fibre ones are just really light ). Buck light titaniums are also a great choice as are Bashlins. Soft wrap pads or the same with steel inserts are in my opinion the best choice and certainly the most popular choice around here. Good luck choosing, climb safe.

I would go for the Gecko aluminum spikes. They are fantastic.

Has anyone that has the cabon fiber Geckos noticed that they are slightly different length? One of my good friends ordered a pair of the small size carbons from Treestuff and they arrived and were two different lengths. They were too short for him and almost a 1/2" different! Then they shipped him another pair which was the medium carbon fiber Geckos and they had the same issue! I put on the left one and was super excited and thought I was going to buy the pair because it fit so perfect and then when I put on the right one it was hitting my knee in a bad spot. I know it is probably an art making these things but should there really be that much variance?

Anybody else noticed this or did my friend just have bad ordering luck?

I believe your friend had bad ordering luck. I have used them and have seen a number of pairs and none of them have had that issue

I have a pair of the carbon gecko's (size small) and haven't noticed a variance in the length though I will check now. What I did notice is that they use the same pads as are made for the aluminum version and as I have the small carbons the top cap is smaller than the fiberglass version. What this means is that it sticks on out all sides which not only looks cheesy for a $600 pair of spurs but creates a pressure point down low where the shank bends. I've rectified it but I shouldn't have to modify a pair of spurs that cost that much. They should under no uncertain terms be the most perfect damn set of spikes anybody has ever seen or touched!

That said, I would buy them again if I had to replace them.
