I have used all three. They are all very comfortable but unless you are a bigger or heavier climber I would stick to the first 2. my preference is the middle selection. I would also like to recommend the regular double strap pads, also very comfortable IMO.

Go with the super wrap pads. The velcro with the metal insert. If you're looking at the caddy pads I have a set laying around.

I looked hard at the super wraps -- but they cost almost twice as much as the caddys.

Since you got caddy pads "laying around", apparently you didn't like 'em .... Why?

My gaffs have B'ham Velcro wraps with metal inserts and they've been comfy. My gaffs are steel with bent shafts.

Mine are first generation without the metal loop that the
Velcro slips through and doubles back. Mine are straight wrap arounds.

When I take off my gaffs I dust off the Velcro and immediately cover the hook/loop together. If you don't the Velcro will wear out.

Very well then ... I've added the 'wraps' to the OP ...

... the list is getting longer ... and more expensive ...

I have only climbed in the aluminum caps, tried the old school leather, only made it up 10 feet, far too painful, I dont understand how the other climber wears them 6 hours straight.

I have some Caddy pads at work. They give me a pressure point that is uncomfortable. I hate them, actually, along with the long tree spurs.

I have my personally owned leather L pads, all worn out, and they conform right to my shins. Zero discomfort. Pole spikes. Less leverage. Love 'em, even for thick barked trees, though I climb with a climbline and flipline, so I don't worry about spurring out. Though, I've really only spurred out once or twice in 4 years of climbing.

In part, its gonna be the shape of your legs in conjunction with the shape of the pads.

Try to try someone's before you buy.

The alum pads are very comfortable.....until the foam pad rips away up in the tree and the alum. gouges your leg! Like the Velcro.....buckingham and gecko (had to change gecko gafs to pole gafs)

The caddy pads were nice for the money but I loved the velcro pads and then upgraded to the geckos and love my geckos so that's why I have the caddy pads laying around.

forth option are the best i have used, and have lasted me for 4 years so far and are still in A1 condition. highly rate these.
