Funny leaves...

This was just a baby, so it would be hard to tell, but those leaves are so distinct it should be easy...

It looks like it's in the family Araliaceae.

Hmmm...all the Araliaceae I know of have palmately compound leaves, not pinnately compound leaves like this little guy. That doesn't mean much, of course.

I've seen a few of these mature around here...but just the baby that day. I'll try to get some better pictures.

It does have a really cool leaf structure, doesn't it? Almost Pinnately palmate, or maybe Palmately pinnate

My first glance at your second image of the trunk had Wisteria coming to mind.

Foliage is different.

But for some reason I feel like I've seen a vine with foliage like that before.
