Maintenance Worker I
Forestry Division
Village of Glen Ellyn Public Works Department is seeking a responsible person for the position of Maintenance Worker I in the Forestry Division. This is a full-time, 40 hour a week position with full benefits.
The successful candidate will have skills and abilities in best Horticulturalist practices as performed in Public Works, a strong creative design skill and enjoy planting flowers each season, maintaining landscape beds, weeding and watering, and taking pride in various landscape work including the ability to design numerous attractive small flower beds. This entry level position will include tree trimming, removal, planting, maintenance and tree evaluation. In addition, the person filling the position will be required to respond to various emergencies (snow removal and forestry related) and work a rotating shift on any day of the week for up to 16 hours in an emergency situation.
The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Landscape Architecture or relate field and being an ISA certified Arborist is preferred. A minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience in Horticulture required and 1 year of experience in Forestry preferred. Possession of a Class B CDL license with air brake and tanker endorsement within 1 year of
hire is required.
