Fellow Buzzers,
Our democracy is a friggin' gift. We all know that. But it's easy to overlook sometimes in the day to day grind. What makes it work is that every one of us gets off our grasses and makes the trip to the poll when we have the chance. Your vote is what makes things happen. Your vote determines what the future will look like for your kids, your grand-kids, and their grand-kids.
I am a middle of the road kind of voter, who doesn't like the current president ... but honestly, who cares ... so let's get that out of the way. Recently, I was having some beer with a good friend of mine. We disagreed on some things, and honestly shit got tense for bit. But what blew me away was that he openly admitted that he had not voted since 1988, the first year he was eligible to vote. I can assure you that he has now applied for his voter registration card for his current district, and I will be reminding him when election time comes. If he doesn't vote, and I find out about it, I have made a solemn vow that not only will I will give him hell, and possibly even seriously flirt with with his wife; but, at minimum, he will buy the food and beer for many years to come, whether he realizes it or not, and I will dupe his sorry @ss into paying for shit whenever I have the opportunity, again whether his drunk @ss realizes it or not. That is the least I can do for all those who have given their life so that we can leave work for a few hours and tap a touchscreen for 5 minutes. I humbly ask that you consider similar opportunities with non-voters that you know.
I hope everyone is prepared for the upcoming election. Please vote IN PERSON if your EARLY mail-in has any problems the first time! Don't give anyone on either side a reason to contest this election. We weren't around for the first civil war, but we might be around for the second if y'all leave anything in the wind and up for interpretation. If you can go to the grocery store, you can go to the polls. Wear a mask and take all the necessary precautions. But vote.
P.S. I like Biden/Harris because I'm tired of rich, immature brats with thin skins running the best country in the world. I get to say that because it's my post
But seriously, you are free to choose whoever you want. That is what millions of Americans fought and died for.
