Friction Savers??

Well, I used it today and it was awesome!!! I didn't get a chance to try it yesterday, since it rained, but today, man, I was in heaven!! The amount of friction it cuts down is awesome!!

I only had one problem though, I can't really install it that well from the ground. For one, my eye-splice does not fit very well through the pulley, I had to tie the string around the other end. But even then, it didn't work out that well. I think I just need to mess around with it for awhile, and see if I can get it smoother, but does anyone have any ideas on how I can install it from the ground a bit better. Thanks!

Are you climbing on the fly? I think every splice would fit through the pulley except the Fly splice.

your going to have a hard time installing that with any eye splice, at least, a poison ivy, tachiyon and dragon fly eye splice, i have all of these lines and have a hard time pulling through the pulley, thats one of the reasons i went back to a standard ring n ring, you could always pull the non spliced end through, but that will mean you have to pull all 150-200ft of line through and you would have to remember what side is what when retreival time comes

or use a larger pulley

Yep, the Fly. I might try Dad's PI tomorrow. The eye splice looks like it would fit through easy enough.

the pi probably wont fit either, ive tried, you end up pulling really hard and the eye gets very tight, good luck though

Thanks. I was just playing around with it inside here and for now, I'll just use the end with no splice. No big deal though. Can't wait to use it again, just so easy and quick!!

Maybe this is a stupid question but here it goes anyway? It's impossible for me to retrieve the adjustable friction saver when cinching it tight around anything my knot gets stuck when tring to pull it out, the rings end up flat against the tree and i end up with a stuck fs. Any tips?

If you have an eye splice on your climbing line try using the ring from an old throwbag tied or girthed on the eye (I us a small piece of throwline). Used instead of the knot. This also depends on using the two sized rings found on most factory made friction savers.

This works well for me climbing palms. You can cinch up an adjustable friction saver and the ring pulls right through when retreiving.

Instead of girthing the retrieval ring to the eye, girth the ring about 6-8 inches from the end--just at or below the splice.

This helps when you re-set the FS. You don't have to tug on the retrieval ring to get the eye to pop through the ring of the FS.
