Frances looks serious. It looks like the hurricane is now starting to touch the Florida coast. You FL tree workers don't look as though you'll be getting a break until Christmas! Storm clean up is hard on you in a lot of ways.

Where will it go from there? North, West into the Gulf? I hope that it doesn't cause as much damage as they are predicting. /forum/images/graemlins/bangtard.gif

The dang thing hasn't even made landfall yet, skies are clear here in Orlando and NOBODY is open for business! I was gonna hit the grocery store this morning and get a couple things and they are all closed. Couldn't even get an Egg McMuffin at Mickey D's! 7-11 is closed! It ain't even going to hit here until after midnight tonight and now it's slowing down even more. Nothing to do but wait.

Well, it's Sunday morning, anything yet? The news says that it is raining a lot by you now and 50 mph+ winds. They also said that Frances is going to run right across where Charley did and ruin even more citrus crop.

I lost power for a couple hours yesterday afternoon and then lost power again last night about 9:30. Good thing I bought a generator and the phone lines are still up. News says about 25% of the Orlando area is without power and the storm intensity will continue to strengthen until about 12-2pm. Winds are not bad yet, about 35 steady with gusts up to 50-60mph. News says Vero Beach got hit hard with lots of wind damage along the East coast from around Daytona Beach Southward to Ft. Lauderdale or so.

I just spoke with a police officer patrolling down my street and he says there are several trees uprooted but not as bad as Charley (yet). My guess is that the damage will be concentrated where the tornadoes are. Virtually no lightning associated with this storm. Weatherman just said max winds will likely be about 60 here in Orlando. Charley had a peak of 105mph at the airport.
