for your veiwing pleasure!

Whooh, you got a major mountain to climb there. Are you sporting one of those topping is bad bumper stickers for starters. I'd buy a case and get all my friends to display them. But I'd say it's too late, that urban forest is f*cked. http://www.sherrilltree.com/Professional-Gear/Bumper/Sticker-Topping-Is-Bad-1358 Then you'll need to supply them with the ISA why topping is bad pamphlets so they don't have to argue to get out of the driveway.

Those photos could almost provide for a nice Facebook page.

Ever thought about making a Facebook page just for tree topping?

Got a website you can cross-link it with?

Boreality, ya i've had those "topping is bad" stickers from sherrill ever since I started doing tree care, and been handing out the ISA fliers for a while. But like you said, too little too late.

Tom, Good advise! I aint no hero!

Mario, facebook page is a good idea. I just might.

Man that place is MESSED UP!

I find that so hard to grasp, your video too, what on earth is going on there, it's like the twilight zone or something.

Not sure? Evidently topping is concentrated in certain pockets around the country. Cultural thing I guess? You usually see some tree topping everywhere, but with such a massive epidemic like here, it damages more trees then any insect or disease hands down.

Ya, I've been to Newport. Same situation there.

Where can you get the fliers explaining why topping is bad. Not much of it here, but have seen a little of it creeping in.

On the idea of the topping brochures ...

ISA ought to fund a a large scale air drop of the why not to top brochures over that community. Sort of like how propaganda notes were dropped in WW II.

Can you just imagine seeing all those tree education brochures falling from the sky.

Macro: i'm seeing a potential career change for you. Arborist to documentary film maker.

The absurdity of topping is so clear to us in the know that i think if done well, one could really change the views of north americans with a michael moore type doc.

Start with you beating your head against a wall in your town and the craziness of all the topping. Move onto some other towns, touch on the european origins of topping. Introduce real arboriculture and all that goes with with. Back up the anti topping rhetoric with some real numbers about loss of tree value, cost of multiple prunings etc.

I'd watch it.

Macro,

since so much topping is happening in your area, you must see crews doing it.

what about pulling up to the crew with a camera running and ask them a few questions.

What are you doing to the trees?

Why?

Is it harmful?

Since you are likely leaving that cursed town anyway, post a youtube video of all this stuff edited together.

It would make a good video.

I plan on doing similar.

But you have even more specimens to work with than I.

Keep up the good work.

I've been thinking about buying a billboard advertisement locally. It would not even advertise my company at all, just state how bad topping is.

just a public service message.
