florida vs massachusetts

i moved my business from massachusetts to florida a year ago. in that time i have had more close calls than i care to talk about. i have always done all of my climbing. i am larger than 99% of climbers. in mass the trees seemed to be alot stronger than they are here, which allowed me to do all my own climbing regardless of size. i have since bought a bucket truck. it has taken all the enjoyment out of tree work. i need that enjoyment back, am i paranoid?

Hey Tree Dog! Welcome to the Buzz!

What Part of FL did you go to?

When we moved our winter ops to florida last year we put the bucket truck away and got back into serious climbing.

I found the trees to be a bit heartier (albeit shorter) than most of the stuff we've got in Vermont.

It was a tree-mendous re-birth in climbing for me.

I think your concerns are reasonable, but keep in mind that Florida and trees of the south are different than what we have here in New England.

You need to re-learn and become familiar with the natives, so to speak.

Tom is absolutely right tho...every one goes home at the end of the day...with all thier parts and all thier fluids.

No sense in being stoooopid and getting hurt.

I've failed to make it home at the end of the day only twice in my career. Your loved ones don't need that kind of stress and neither do you.

When you are ready, start taking intelligent risks and go for it!
