Fliplines

5/8 seemsOTE="Marden, post: 376024, member: 7025"]I would like to start using spurs/flipline and would like to hear recommendations for what type of flipline would be better to use:

Wire-core or Rope ?
If wire-core, why use 1/2" versus 5/8"
What length should I get ?

Thanks
5/8 seems like more comfortable on the hands if you grip it tightly[/QUOTE]
I like a super long one but I do a lot of large trees

I use Yale 5/8 wire core flipline, super easy to flip up the stem, Very forgiving and a lot easier to manipulate than a 1/2 rope lanyard, especially when struggling through ivy and gnarly stuff

I use a 15' wire core w/ rock grab adjuster for my #1. I also carry a 15' 7/16 rope flipline w/ a regular prussic and aluminum beaners. I like having the second one for positioning in awkward spots when it's faster then setting up a climb line or a 2nd climb line. Plus it's nice to be able to ditch the wire core when near power lines.
