Flat tire repair plug???

I'm going to get a tire plug repair kit for my vehicles. The ones I'm familiar with use strips of rubber that are glued into the reamed out hole.

I was looking online and I see a different plug. They look like short lag screws...but are rubber...with a Phillips drive head.

Any feedback on either plug repair?
 
I am not familiar with those, but I am very fond of one particular brand of the traditional rope style plugs. Look up Blackjack tire plugs. They’re supposed to be a permanent plug, where plugs are usually temporary. We’ve only ever had one or two over the years need replaced, and I’ve installed a couple hundred of them.

How do you find the leak without compressed air ?

Not familiar with screw type. They might offer larger “screws” for larger holes. Strips have worked for me. Have a decent air compressor on board that will not overheat. We do 100% forest work so we drive a lot of rocked roads. In my case I carry 2 spare tires. What I have found is tire casings wear out before treads. Run E range tires if you can or highest letter one can get.
 
I've never seen the screw type plug but I think I'm gonna get a set. I keep the rope style on every one of my vehicles.

One time I got a flat in my dump trailer with 18ply tires.... That was a damn chore to repair with the rope style kit. I ended using a drill to reem it out. I imagine that screw style would have worked great on that tire.
